My grandmother died recently and she had been suffering from Dementia for a few years. I was fortunate to have been able to be with her in the last year of her life and give back to her the care that she gave me while I was growing up. I’m mentioning this because I recently came across an article about a monthly injection to prevent Alzheimer’s and that they are, I quote: “recruiting to a new study which will examine the impact only on patients with mild dementia.”
Unfortunately, some sufferers don’t recognize that they are already in the grips of the disease and will most likely attribute their forgetfulness to aging. Some studies say that the build up of Amyloid Plaque in the brain and in the spinal column signifies the onset of the disease. Healthcare does not cover for tests like these, though, but it may prove to be beneficial for those of us at risk to get tested early.
